2018 LTC Carnaval of New Latinx Work Finalist

When Regina Guzman is diagnosed with Early On-set Alzheimer's, her wife Miranda, and their two daughters Charlie and Laura, must come to terms with their new reality. As the disease progresses, secrets long forgotten come to light. With every year passing, Regina loses track of her reality, even becoming aware that the audience is watching her. With no cure in sight, all they can do is learn how to cope with watching someone they once knew, turn into a shell of herself. Is their family strong enough to survive this disease? Or will the figurative and literal fires be enough to tear this once semi-peaceful family apart?

Forever and a Day

When Tom Phillips takes his own life, his family and friends and most importantly, his ex-boyfriend, gather to say their goodbyes on a day that happens once every four years. Realizing none of them are prepared for the funeral, they band together to get through this tragedy. With humor, tears, anger, and cake, they learn how to hold onto the love they have always had, while moving forward in a world that seems so cruel for no reason. Oh, and maybe the ghost of Tom Phillips shows up to haunt them in a way only he knows how.

Life in between

Donnie Viviani and Michael White, with the help of their best friends Becca and Hailey, are hard at work preparing for their upcoming nuptials. But when Michael invites Donnie's ex, Troy, to the wedding, he may have accidentally undone his future. We see the relationship of Donnie and Michael in Act I leading up to the wedding, and in Act II we find out how Donnie and Troy's love came to be and end with flashbacks. Act III is a culmination of anxiety, fear, love, loss, celebration, and the age old question of: what is love?
